Plagiarism Policy
Shodh Sagar International Publications is dedicated to promoting and maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. Plagiarism, in any form, is a serious violation of these standards, and we take rigorous measures to prevent, detect, and address any instances of plagiarism in the manuscripts we publish.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as the practice of taking someone else's work, ideas, or expressions and presenting them as one's own without proper acknowledgment or permission. This includes, but is not limited to:
Direct Plagiarism: Copying text verbatim from another source without proper citation.
Self-Plagiarism: Reusing one's own previously published work or parts of it without proper citation or acknowledgment.
Mosaic Plagiarism: Paraphrasing another's work by changing words or sentence structure without proper citation.
Accidental Plagiarism: Unintentionally failing to cite sources or paraphrase content appropriately.
2. Submission Requirements
Authors submitting manuscripts to Shodh Sagar International Publications must ensure that their work is original and free from plagiarism. All sources, including ideas, text, data, and other materials that are not the authors' own, must be properly cited. Authors are required to submit a plagiarism declaration form, affirming that their manuscript is free from plagiarism and has not been submitted or published elsewhere.
3. Plagiarism Detection
To ensure the integrity of the content we publish, Shodh Sagar International Publications uses advanced plagiarism detection software to screen all submitted manuscripts. The software compares the submitted work against a vast database of academic papers, books, and other publications to identify any similarities or overlaps.
4. Handling Cases of Plagiarism
Minor Overlap: If minor instances of plagiarism (e.g., small passages of text) are detected and deemed unintentional, the manuscript will be returned to the authors with a request for revision. Authors must address the issues by properly citing sources, rephrasing the content, or providing original contributions.
Major Overlap: If substantial plagiarism is detected, the manuscript will be rejected outright. The authors will be notified of the decision, and their institution or affiliated organization may be informed of the breach of ethics.
Self-Plagiarism: In cases of self-plagiarism, the authors will be required to provide proper citations for their previous work or make significant revisions to ensure that the new submission is distinct and original.
5. Consequences of Plagiarism
Shodh Sagar International Publications reserves the right to take the following actions in response to confirmed cases of plagiarism:
Immediate rejection of the manuscript.
Retraction of published works found to contain significant plagiarism.
Banning the author(s) from future submissions to Shodh Sagar International Publications.
Notification to the author's institution, funding bodies, and other relevant organizations.
6. Appeals Process
Authors who believe that their work has been unfairly flagged for plagiarism have the right to appeal the decision. The appeal must be submitted in writing to the editorial board, providing a detailed explanation and supporting evidence. The board will review the appeal and make a final decision, which will be communicated to the authors.
7. Ethical Commitment
Shodh Sagar International Publications is committed to fostering a culture of ethical research and publication. We encourage all authors, reviewers, and editors to uphold the principles of academic honesty and integrity. Any form of academic misconduct, including plagiarism, will be treated with the utmost seriousness.
8. Education and Prevention
To help prevent plagiarism, Shodh Sagar International Publications offers resources and guidance to authors on proper citation practices, paraphrasing techniques, and the importance of originality in academic writing. We encourage authors to familiarize themselves with these resources before submission.
