Synopsis

Social and Cultural Geography
Both social geography and cultural geography began independently as sub-fields within the larger discipline of human geography. In addition to this, it will concentrate on the most important movements and methods in social geography and analyse them critically. In addition to this, we will study culture as a theoretical term in order to comprehend the subfield of cultural geography, you will get an understanding of how the spatial pattern of human activity contributes to the formation of sociocultural space. It is true that social geography plays an important part in both human and physical geography. It serves to remind us that geographies as a whole reflect the impact of people and the social structures in which they live. Therefore, social geography investigates how space and place impact the formation of social phenomena, as well as how social phenomena, in turn, influence the building of places and space. In addition to this, the connections between society and culture are rather strong. The incorporation of a cultural perspective into human geography was an important development that assisted in broadening the scope of human comprehension of socioeconomic concerns beyond the confines of statistical explanations. Culture may be defined as a people's way of life, their race, the social institutions they belong to, the social values they uphold, the social processes they engage in, the social meanings and symbols they use, their identity, their religious beliefs, and the problems they face. As a consequence, it is a significant factor in the human geographical explanation. The cultural turn resulted in the development of a discipline known as cultural geography, which possesses a distinct history, philosophy, method of investigation, and explanation that should not only be maintained but also developed in order to address human challenges from a variety of cultural positions and locations within a world that is becoming increasingly globalised.
