Synopsis

Abstract
Waterlogging happens when a plant's root zone has too much water in it. As a result, roots' ability to acquire oxygen is decreased which leads to the death of the plant. Waterlogging is very serious problem in Haryana state. The paper tries to find out different types of water logging, to analyze causes of water logging particularly in Haryana and to find some solutions to prevent waterlogging. Waterlogging can be classified on the basis of various factors as, on the basis of causes, location, permanence, etc. Waterlogging has also long-term bad effects on human health, soil nutrients, plant growth, etc. Waterlogging is such a phenomenon which cannot be avoided but we can lessen its side effects by preventive measures as mulching, raising beds, reducing water loss, etc.
KEYWORDS:  Waterlogging, water table, underground water, salinity, agriculture.
Introduction
When a plant's root zone contains too much water, waterlogging results. Roots' access to oxygen is reduced as a result. Waterlogging can significantly impede plant development and production and, in some cases, even result in plant death. It's possible that this restriction won't become evident until the entire soil profile is saturated and water is visible on the surface. Waterlogging is very serious problem in Haryana.
Objectives
The main objectives of the study are:

  • To find out water logging and salinity problem.
  • To analyze causes of water logging particularly in
  • To find some solutions to prevent waterlogging.
