Synopsis
In sum, it is essential to recognise that action research is a technique that helps us be more professional in our job and in our daily lives. In order to achieve its goals, this strategy emphasises altering either the procedures or inputs used or the relationships between those involved. To effect change, the practitioner must be unhappy with the status quo and prepared to shoulder the burden of accountability for altering the status quo.
Therefore, educators with an interest in action research hope to effect change by intervening in a situation and working in tandem with those affected. They become reflective practitioners in this process, which gives them agency to effect change in the classroom.
Mankind has always sought explanations for the mysteries of the universe, and these search strategies may be broken down into six distinct schools of thought: (1) authority; (2) tradition; (3) experience; (4) deductive reasoning; (5) inductive reasoning; and (6) the scientific method. Even in the oldest civilizations, it was common practise to bring concerns to a higher authority for resolution. There are historical instances of people trusting on established authorities as sources of information, especially in the face of terrifying threats like floods, famines, and illnesses. Syllogism is a method of reasoning proposed by Aristotle in which one moves from broad to narrow claims through inference and deduction. In deductive reasoning, the premises must be true before the conclusions drawn from them may be considered valid.
